Glad it's over...

I'm so glad American Idol is over. I'm hoping that Utah will now get it's wits back and get over David Archuleta.

THIS article is SO right on.

"There's no doubt that David Archuleta's got vocal chops. He can sing the hell out of a standard or a ballad. But when he actually chose to sing something out of his comfort zone (think Chris Brown's "With You"), he exposed a lack of range. And it actually made you wonder whether the baby-faced crooner's deep run to the final two had anything to do with the fact that he consistently chose songs that showcased his mellow, though inflexible, baritone. Who knows what might have happened if, early on in the season, the producers had actually forced Archuleta to sing something more contemporary, something more upbeat, more dance-friendly, or, dare I say, more his age? Especially with a group as vocally solid as this season's finalists, the producers should have forced the competitors to sing challenging songs - ones which taxed their vocal ranges and seriously pushed them out of their comfort zones. Only one competitor this season, David Cook, pushed himself to re-work pop standards into his own rock vocabulary (think of his version of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" or Lionel Richie's "Hello"). Look at where that got him. David Archuleta? In the season finale, he opted for yet another rendition of "Imagine," a song he's been singing publicly since the age of 13."

I have said from Day 1 that David A. has a pleasant enough voice, but that isn't enough. He will sell records, no doubt, but will they be good? I still have no idea how whichever label he chooses is going to market him. Is he going to sing ballads? Is he going to sing cover songs? He's not believable as a pop star and frankly no other genre suits him. Yes he can sing, but he's not marketable.

I'm still torn on whether I'm glad David Cook won. On the one hand I'm glad he did because it shut all the DA fans up. (Ha! He won by 12 MILLION votes!) But on the other, now he's tied to AI and I'm not sure if that's the best thing for him.

All in all, this was probably the most invested in American Idol I've ever been.

What are your thoughts on the outcome?

Anniversary Dinner

Famous Dave's ribs. Yummy!!!

Conversations with Tyson

*While shopping for jeans at Gap

Me: How do these look?
Tys: Fine. Can you sit in them? Can you squat in them?
Me: Of course. They fit fine.
Tys: Show me the button.
Me: What? Why?
Tys: If they aren't buttoned you can't get them.
Me: You know I never button the top of my jeans.
Tys: No, you never button the top of your jeans that don't fit right.
Me: They fit fine. So what if they aren't buttoned.
Tys: Humor me and try on the size 4.
Me: Fine.

*Seconds later
Me: Here's the size 4. They're too short I won't wear them.
Tys: Stacey, how can a size bigger be shorter?
Me: Um, the 2's may have been longs and these might be regulars but I can't remember.
Tys: Ugh! Get a 4 long!
Me: Fine.

*Seconds later
Me: They have no 4 longs.
Tys: Conveneient.
Me: No, seriously.
Tys: Put the 4's back on again. Just let me see them again.
Me: They're too short. I won't wear them.
Tys: [long pause] This isn't about the length is it? You don't want the 4's because you want to wear 2's, huh?
Me: What? No, you're crazy!
Tys: Stacey...
Me: Fine. I don't want to wear 4's. The 2's fit fine anyway.
Tys: Oh my gosh! You are crazy!

Needless to say I got neither pair of jeans. I guess I should no longer wonder why Tyson hates to shop with me. lol

Private no more

I decided to go back to a public blog. This may change, but for now it's public. I've found old friends from blog-hopping and someday someone may find me. I'm still keeping Scarlett's private though.

Do they know me or what?!

Aside from the single thing, this is SO me. ROFL!!!

What Your Fridge Says About You

You don't need a lot of stuff to be happy. There isn't a greedy bone in your body.

You are not careful with your money. In fact, you rarely think about how much you are spending.

You are not adventurous at all. You don't like to be outside your comfort zone.

You try to be responsible, but you don't always succeed. Your heart is in the right place though.

You are likely single - and spending many nights alone at home.

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary!

Happy anniversary Tys!

I love you more than a fat kid loves cake.
I love you more than an Emo kid loves girl pants.
I love you more everyday.

Of all my husbands, you're my favorite. ;)

Winner!

About two weeks ago a blog I read was giving away a bunch of things in honor of Mother's Day. One of their prizes was Aveeno Age Defying Moisturizer. While we were in NYC I found out that I won! When we got home I had completely forgotten I won and there was a FedEx box on our doorstep and neither of us knew what it was. I was pleasantly surprised to find my new moisturizer!

I'm sort of confused though because they said it was a set and a $60 value, but all I got was the bottle of moisturizer. I feel sort of gypped out of my prize.

Misc. NYC Stuff

I'm sad at NYC. I did not see one celebrity. Not one! So sad. Jimmy Fallon walked by the sushi restaurant we ate at 2 minutes before me. Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer were near Magnolia the same night we were, but I didn't catch a peek at anyone. I'm sad at NYC. They couldn't even send me a z-list celeb to spot.

NYC is the most amazing place to people watch and eavesdrop on people (two of my favorite past-times). There are just so many different types of people that you are never at a loss for something to watch or listen to.

I thought taking a stroller to NYC was going to be a huge mistake and a hassle. Turns out it was SO handy! When Scarlett wasn't in it we used it to hang all our bags on. Heck, even when she was in it we hung all the bags on it. It was quite the sight!

If I lived in NYC I would have no excuse for being out of shape. We walked SO much, but we also had to lug the stroller up and down stairs. I'll admit that I didn't do it nearly as much as Brad, Tyson and Brittany, but I did it enough to feel it. It was quite the work out.

I was going to do a list of everything I ate while in NYC, but the list was long and as I got to thinking about it, it made me sick. Let's just say, I ate a lot, and probably next to none of it was good for me.

Tyson and I got salt water taffy in Massachusetts. I'm not sure how I feel about taffy. Especially since we both had pieces that tasted like Scrubbing Bubbles. Honestly. It did. I'm not going to be eating taffy again for a very long while.

It was SO much fun to see Scarlett interact with Tyson's family. She LOVED Brad, Brittany, Meagan and Mary Ann. Scarlett rarely gets to see them and it was fun to see her having such a good time with them.

I'll probably be posting random pictures and stuff besides the things I've already posted. We just had so much fun and took so many pictures it's hard for me to cover everything (or even remember it all).

Final Day - Day 8

We left early Sunday morning and headed back home. We made it to NYC with plenty of time to catch our flights. It wasn't all smooth sailing get to the airport, but we got there.

Scarlett was THE BEST traveller for most of the trip. She hardly cried at all (which is how she is most of the time anyway). We were sort of worried that she would freak out being in an unfamiliar place or that she would be overstimulated by NYC, but she loved everything! She loved having so many people pay attention to her and she was never alone for more than a second. We knew it had to end some time, unfortunately for us she chose to have her meltdown somewhere in the Midwest on the plane where we couldn't do anything about it. She was just SO exhausted she just cried and cried for probably an hour. It was HORRIBLE! Nothing Tyson or tried calmed her down. Not only was it very embarrassing it was also exhausting for us. She finally fell asleep and slept for the last hour or so and as soon as we landed she woke up and was happy as a clam and was smiling and cooing. Silly baby. She did so good the other days though, and I'm actually surprised that she hadn't had a meltdown earlier.

We had so much fun with everyone! It was good to be able to spend so much time with Tyson's family. I think that everyone had a good time even if we were all a little exhausted from the 'vacation'.

Cape Cod - Day 7

Saturday was the day that we had decided to take the ferry over to Nantucket. Since Tys and I didn't really have real clothes or shoes and it was supposed to be cold and rainy, we weren't all the excited to go so we had decided not to go. Then at the last minute, we decided we didn't want to be cooped up in the house all day while everyone went and had fun so we went. I'm glad we did because we did have fun!

The ferry was supposed to leave at 9:15am and of course we got there barely in time. lol We had to all cram into a Suburban to take us to the dock and man I wish someone would have taken a picture. It was hilarious. Scarlett was strapped to me and all 8 of us were crammed in like Sardines. It was hilarious!

The ferry ride to Nantucket was about 2 hours. It didn't seem that long though. It was still raining a bit when we got to Nantucket. We walked around for a bit and found a place to have lunch. While we were eating the sun came out! We walked around some more. Nantucket isn't all that big, only about 14 miles, so there wasn't all that much to see or do, especially since we didn't have a car. Mostly it's a tourist trap but it's a really cute place. Once we got out of the little strip right by the dock there were some really cool buildings and some neat stuff to see. We took the ferry back to Cape Cod at 5:30pm.

Once we got home we all just prepared for bed. It was a busy week! We had to pack and get everything ready because Sunday we were leaving early to head back to NYC to catch our planes and head home.
